The most common symptoms of an ankle sprain include:

* Pain in the front of your ankle, near the foot.

*Swelling around your ankle.

*Tenderness and stiffness around your ankle.

*Feeling pain in your leg.

Physiotherapy can help ankle sprains by providing the following:

Physical therapy physical games. It’s important to start physiotherapy as soon as you feel any pain in your ankle, even if it doesn’t feel like a sprain. It can help you get better faster and keep luck out of trouble.

Ice packs or ice baths. An ice pack should be applied to the injured area for 15 minutes every 2 hours for the first 24 hours after injury, then every four hours for the next 48 hours, then at least every 6 hours.

Ice does not have to be applied to the skin at once, but alternatively, avoid ice around the ankle joint in the form of a bloodless pack or ice bag wrapped in a towel between the legs, which can cause further damage. Appropriate if misused

Anti-inflammatory medications containing ibuprofen (Advil) or naproxen sodium (Aleve). These medications are generally safe to use during pregnancy, but ask your doctor about their safety if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Always consult your doctor before taking any remedy.

I can apply ice or an ice pack if the ankle is swollen. It plays a very useful and important role. It helps reduce swelling. But it should be done within 72 hours of the injury. We can give 10-15 minutes every 1 to 2 hours.

4. Crepe Bandage:

Crepe bandages or braces play an important role in reducing swelling and pain. Just as ice packs help reduce swelling, crampons or braces should be applied to reduce pain or prevent further damage. Care should be taken not to be too firm as this can cause blood clots and increase pain.

5. Rest:

If it happens suddenly, rest is very important. Excessive walking and movement can increase pain and swelling. So rest should be taken till recovery.

Compression–

Wrapping a towel around the ankle and elevating it above the level of the heart helps reduce blood flow and swelling to the injured area. A compression bandage may also be worn at this time to reduce blood flow to the ankle.

Arthrocentesis–

This involves inserting a needle into a place near or below your knee where you can detect a small amount of fluid (serum). Your doctor will draw some blood to check for any signs of contamination.
